Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applied on MBR system (MBR-12)
April 2006 - March 2008
What my project is about
The objective of the project is to develop a CFD simulation tool to get insight into the two-phase flow (air/liquid) in MBR systems. Once the model has been validated, it can be used to test various configurations for the reactor and modules geometry, in order to optimize the aeration system.
Where I work and live
The KompetenzZentrum Wasser Berlin is offering this research topic. Berlin is a welcoming capital city and with a human size. Always changing and boiling, it is an important (multi)cultural city. Repulsive and glamorous, lighthearted and dark, modern and old at the same time, it is absolutely not a conventional city.
Motivation
At the end of my master thesis on MBR systems, one of the biggest motivations was to develop knowledge on this topic, and to gain further experiences in the field of wastewater sector. Moreover it is an extra challenge to work in a trilingual environment, which gives me the opportunity to improve both my German and English skills. I look forward to working within the water sector, which I consider as a crucial issue for the future.
