The fate of persistent organic pollutants in MBR (MBR-16)
October 2006 - September 2009
What my project is about
Persistent organic pollutants are becoming a bigger issue everyday since they may pose a risk to humans and the environment. The main problem arises from the fact that they are not removed during the wastewater treatment and therefore remain almost intact in the environment. This project aims at improving their removal by using MBRs.
Where I work and live
Milan, Italy. It is the main city of northern Italy, located in the plains of Lombardy. One of the world capitals of fashion, Milan is not only famous for its shopping malls, but also for some historic buildings such as the Duomo, La galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II, il Cenacolo painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1494-1498, le colone di San Lorenzo and so on...
Motivation
After few experiences abroad, through traineeships on water treatment research and studies, I wanted to keep going this way. The MBR-TRAIN project was the perfect opportunity to combine both research on water treatment and international experience.
