MBR-6: Experimental and theoretical investigations on the influence of permeate back-flushing on fouling

vacant position

RWTH

start date to be defined

Capillary hollow fibre membranes applied in membrane bioreactor applications will be investigated in terms of permeate back-flush effectiveness with and without chemical addition. Membrane materials will be fouled with activated sludge and other matrices. The membranes will be back-washed under defined conditions and back-wash frequency. Duration and supporting measures such as chemical cleaning agent addition and aeration will be varied. An artificial neural network approach will be used to model the back-wash process and its long term effects. The model will be integrated with other process models developed in this project.
