MBR-8: Optimisation of full scale MBR operation for decentralised treatment

This research project allows the fellow to gather practical experiences in operating an MBR. The system at the test plant under investigation (wastewater treatment plant in Ivacice near Brno) works with submerged membranes which need chemical cleaning on a weekly basis to enable a stable operation.
The research shall increase the understanding of quantifying crucial membrane properties and controlling membrane performance in real filtration processes. The results achieved in laboratory experiments (project14) will be applied to full scale plant in this task. A technical and economic evaluation of the scheme will be accomplished as well in order to investigate the potential for optimisation and operational cost saving.
